Joel is one of the founders of Tersus Software Ltd., a visual development platform (www.tersus.org) that enables codeless development of enterprise systems. Prior to founding Tersus, Joel served as Managing Director North America and before that Managing Director Asia Pacific for SunGard Business Integration. Joel Barel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physics at Tel-Aviv University.

Ray began his career in the banking industry where he spent 8 years in business development for Maybank, Citibank and BNPParibas. For the past three years, he was responsible for the sales of the Meridea product suite in the Asia Pacific Region. Raymond Chee earned his bachelor of business/banking at NTU Singapore.

Randall began his media career in Canada and moved to the Asia Pacific Region in 1994 with the TIME Warner organization as VP Time Inc. - Asiaweek magazine. Mr. Maxwell later joined MTV Asia (Viacom) as VP/General Manager of new media ventures. Randall Maxwell earned his bachelor of economics at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Nixon started his sales and marketing profession for IT industries since his MBA graduation the Chinese University of HK in 1985. In the past six years, he has extensive experience in product and business development in providing IT solutions to the wealth management industries. Nixon is also one of the founders of Wealth Bridge Asia Limited (www.wealthbridgeasia.com), a business process outsourcing provider for the fund administration.

Chee Boon has more than 13 years of finance and accounting experience. He has worked in real estate, shipping and in the IT industry. He is a Fellow with The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Mark earned his Bsc (Honours) in Business & Management specializing in Marketing at the University of Bradford, UK.

Yaniv has 10 years of experience in the Information Technology industry. He is a Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) and have served in the Israeli Airforce. He is also well versed in basic programming and SQL database.

Gearing Up

Dear Readers,

Greetings from the SENTRYi group!

For those of you visiting us for the first time, here’s a little introduction of what in the blue world we are all about.

Established in 2004, SENTRYi Marketing Pte Ltd is a software company focused on providing innovative solutions to the financial services and wealth management industry. The SENTRYi solution suite provides financial advisory firms, fund promoters and private banks with software utilities that increase their product sales, strengthen their customer relationships, and reduce processing costs associated with portfolio lifecycle management.

It has certainly been a very exciting 1st quarter of 2008 for all of us at SENTRYi! With the worldwide marketing venturing on a corrective curve, we have managed to continue our growth via the acquisition of new clients, and the launch of new, exciting products and applications!

We’ll go the extra miles for you.

To fulfil our quest of developing client oriented products and services, our marketing team sought feedback from our existing customers. In doing that, we were able to develop an understanding on possible upgrades and features, of which would be instrumental in enhancing our clients in their areas of responsibility.

Acting upon these areas of feedback, we provided our existing client with an upgraded version of the Portfolio Designer™. For users in Singapore, we have added in extra functionalities, including functionalities that will allow for the handling of hybrid CPF and cash accounts, scaling of fund history with highly graphical timeline measurement tools, as well as other efficient applications.

On this note, three cheers for our partners for their valuable feedback! We hope that the additional functionalities are beneficial, and continue to welcome their suggestions and feedback. Kudos to our technical teams for their immaculate planning, and execution of a flawless upgrade plan for our valued clients, and for turning out these upgrades in record time!

Enlarging our tents

SENTRYi has also experienced growth outside the sunny islands of Singapore. Within this few months, we have been able to secure several new accounts, including top tier IFA, and insurance clients in Hong Kong!

We attribute the exceptional response to our Portfolio Designer™ to the fact that the solution has now established itself as a necessary optimal tool for customers in Hong Kong. As of now, we are supporting over 50 investment products and the capability to be able to fully report in Chinese- increasing efficiency, transparency and compliance. We believe this to be the key in ensuring greater demand, and acceptance for our solutions.

Our immediate neighbour feels the heat, too! Our partnership with one of Malaysia’s largest advisory firm is progressing way ahead of schedule. With the completion of the successful trial, we are optimistic that this partnership will manifest its full glory for over two thousand users of our award winning Portfolio Designer™!

Time flies. In a twinkling of the year, we’ve just put 2007 behind us and have officially entered into the year 2008!

Enlarging our tents beyond Singapore, we have been busy extending personalised services to CIMB Wealth Advisors Berhad in Malaysia. We take great pleasure in sharing that the trial of personalised services with the award winning Portfolio Designer™ has been extremely successful!

On this successful note, we are presently negotiating a complete solution for this prestigious financial advisory. This solution will contain a portfolio rebalancing application and will showcase the wide range of CIMB unit trusts and Sharif funds for the key CIMB Wealth Advisors customers.

First entry into the insurance market

We’ve made a bold first move by commencing negotiations with one of Asia’s biggest and most prestigious insurance providers. The insurance company in concern is presently specifying their requirements and the blue print for a complete and detailed Wealth Management Report for the Portfolio Designer™.

We celebrate the New Year!

In a twinkling of an eye, it has been yet another fulfilling year for all of us at SENTRYi. Still reeling over the good old cheer of Christmas, we touch base and gear ourselves for the new calendar year!

2008 marks the start of a good year- a good economic year, at least. Property prices have been gradually increasing. There is also a trend of increased consumer spending attributed to greater affluence, and most importantly, increase in interest on the topic of investment.

In line with the growing concerns of increased lifespan, inflation, and ever increasing cost of living, many Singaporeans are concerned that their CPF (Central Provident Fund) account may not have sufficient funds to live with upon retirement. With this knowledge in mind, many individuals (like Mr Sorek himself) have turned to financial advisors for help in fund accumulation. With the increasing cost of healthcare and medication, there is every need for individuals to ensure that they have sufficient funds to cater for such situations when necessary. Little wonder then, that the investment industry is getting hotter by the minute!

With so many investment portfolios to deliberate and choose from, it certainly makes sense to be informed of what you are opting for. Hard work knows no boundaries

We can’t believe that the year 2007 is actually drawing to a close. After months of meetings, proposals and heaps of transactions, we’ve hardly noticed the approaching festive season (Christmas) that marks the end of the calendar year!

The past three months have proved to be extremely busy, yet fulfilling. Not one to rest on our laurels, we have spared no expense in the improvement of our existing solutions, and the expansion of our product range to meet the various needs of the diverse financial industry market. In improving our existing solutions, we have invested a great deal of time with our existing clients to gather feedback and suggestions.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support and endeavour to continually present you with cutting edge and user friendly solutions. In the meantime, do allow us to share with you some exciting events that have taken place thus far!

Global Strategies

As one of our pioneering users of the Portfolio Designer, Global Strategies has expressed their immense satisfaction with our products. Recently, we were called upon to offer opinions and advise pertaining to the additional services of which Global Strategies was offering to their customers.

In no time, we were able to develop a merged customer holding data system which enabled Global Strategies’ base of customers to not only view their individual holding valuations, but also their combined valuations across all investment products! Global Strategies was delighted with the short time taken by us to develop the application, and with the fact that once again, our solution has contributed greatly to added convenience, translating into greater customer satisfaction.

IPPFA

We have also invested a great deal of time and effort into the development of a personalised version of the Portfolio Designer for IPPFA. The customised version of the award winning software now allows IPP advisors to build a fully compliant portfolio with the use of real time data, while researching and showcasing all the IPP champion funds in minutes, enabling IPP advisors to carry out many common functions in less time, and with ease. The addition of a “slider” at the bottom of the fund showcase page allows for quick monthly comparisons of IPP Champion funds over a period of three years.

In addition, we have also completed the delivery of the five key middle office modules to the IPP offices. These modules introduce full CRM capabilities, company performance dashboards, automated portfolio management and the much anticipated straight through processing! The introduction of these modules enables IPP customers to enable real time asset holding valuations, which can be based on individual policies, multiple policies or an entire consolidated valuation of all holdings.

As we approach the year 2008, we will leave no stone unturned to continually revolutionize the portfolio management industry with the provision of our cutting edge, yet user friendly solutions!

Now that we’ve been talking, how bout trying it?

Lets highlight something...

In our previous post, we shared of our driving force, and what we are trying to do for the market. We trust that you have gained a deeper understanding of our intentions and look forward to be able to help you as well!

Since we’ve briefly explained about our products in the first post, we intend to elaborate a little further to help you understand how our solutions can benefit you. We’ve spent a fair amount of resources in developing our award winning Portfolio Designer TM. It brings us much pride to be able to present this solution to you!

 So what is the Portfolio Designer TM all about?

The Portfolio Designer TM is a PC based, highly graphical solution that enables advisors to sit face to face with a client and build a customised, fully compliant, personalised investment portfolio. With the extensive use of graphics, the advisor can assess, and present the clients their risk profile, while comparing both sectors and the funds within the chosen sectors. Amongst other features, financial advisers also have access to data links from fund rating companies like Morningstar and Standard & Poor’s, and web-links to each fund fact sheet, all of which contribute in reducing research time dramatically.

In addition, the system also offers a real-time portfolio optimisation engine as well as pre-populating the client’s investment report, compliance statement and policy application. It is a turn-key ‘end to end’ solution that can significantly cut the time an advisor spends to acquire and process new business.

The Portfolio DesignerTMs  Unique Selling Point is it’s ability to bring transparency to clients, advisors and advisory companies. Clients can now be shown exactly why a sector and a fund have been selected for their portfolio. An advisor is able to highlight his own unique viewpoint and reasoning for selecting an investment and most importantly, demonstrate to a client or compliance official that the most vital part of the portfolio building process, asset allocation, is being placed at the epicenter of the workflow. This serves in educating the client and paves the way for a closer relationship between client and investor.

What are we trying to do?

Welcome back! We hope you have enjoyed reading the first post and we do look forward to providing you with more informative reads.

Having come this far, we find it an absolute must to share with you the spark that got the fire going, how SENTRYi was founded, and what we want to do. This will help you to appreciate what we are putting our efforts into.

Our mission is to develop practical, streamlined portfolio advisory and management solutions which will minimise time and efforts spent for research and administration. Today, our solutions boast of a wealth of solutions that assist financial advisories in the management of client portfolios. These goals are fulfilled through a series of automated processes that monitors portfolio investments and issues alerts, while facilitating speedy applications and changes within the client portfolio.

And this is how SENTRYi was conceived, and established.

Mr Ian Sorek, founder of SENTRYi, engaged the services of financial advisor Mark Stephens, (now VP Product Development and Founder of SENTRYi) to better manage finances.

Mr Sorek soon came to the realisation that he was not in full understanding of his personal investment portfolio. As he probed his financial advisor, Mr Sorek was perturbed to learn about the often cumbersome and repetitive processes in the industry that left Mr Stephens tied up with research, compliance and application paperwork. Both came to realisation the “gaping void” in the financial advisory industry for cutting edge, labour saving solutions. The lack of transparency and the ability to customise were apparent in most investment portfolios.

With an iron willed determination to overcome these surfaced limitations, SENTRYi was established in December 2004 by Mr Ian Sorek and Mr Mark Stephens.
